At Drake’s Steve has achieved a Michelin star as well as 3 AA Rosettes
Steve started his cooking career at the Ritz hotel in the early nineties and went on to work for some of the country’s leading chefs including Nico Ladenis and Marco Pierre White.
In 2000 after two years as sous chef at the Aubergine, Steve took his first head chef’s position at Drakes on the Pond in Abinger Hammer (Steve giving consent to the use of his name).
In 2001 Steve won the Roux Scholarship professional cookery competition, which enabled him to spend time with 6 Michelin starred French chef Marc Veyrat in Annecy, France.
In 2003 Drakes on the Pond was awarded a Michelin star.
After 3 years Steve and Serina wanted to fulfil a lifelong ambition to open their own restaurant and in January 2004 Drake’s Restaurant (previously Michel’s) was opened, a year to the day of opening a Michelin star was achieved as well as 3 AA Rosettes and newcomer of the year in the Good Food Guide.
